You do not need to buy wind or sunlight, as both are free. You also don't have to transport the energy source as it is available almost anywhere. So the economic costs are also much less as well as the environmental impact when compared to burning fossil fuels.

Some small everyday lifestyle changes you can make are to remember to turn it off if you are not in the room. When replacing lights you should use energy efficient lights. Turn the lights off as you leave the room, turn of the stereo or TV if you are not watching. Tae shorter showers and lower the temperature on your water heater. One of the biggest electricity drains is water heat. You should also hang you clothes out instead of using the drying. By hanging your clothes out on the line you will be using solar energy instead of energy produced from fossil fuels. To minimize the amount of heat you lose keep the curtains and doors shut to make sure heat stays where you want it. Block drafty areas or even make home improvement like new windows to save heat. You will find your energy bills decreasing.

You can also conserve energy by taking public transportation. One of the most costly forms of energy is gasoline. If possible carpool to work or school. Take the bus, bike ride or walk when you can. You can also invest in hybrid cars or you may also be able to use an electric car. Alternatively you can drive a vehicle that uses alternative fuel like biofuel or natural gas. Biodiesel is very popular as it is made from soybeans and vegetable oil. Hydrogen is also popular and will probably be the fuel of the future as the only product of hydrogen fuel is water.
